STUDENT EXPERIENCE
At THE Band of Barbers Academy, barber education is designed to feel practical, supportive, and connected to the real industry.
From hybrid theory to hands-on clinic training, students are expected to develop technical skills, professionalism, confidence, and the habits needed to succeed behind the chair.
WHAT YOUR EXPERIENCE LOOKS LIKE
Students begin with a 12-week hybrid theory phase, then transition into 26 weeks of in-person practical training. During the hands-on phase, students work in a real clinic environment where they practice services, improve technique, interact with clients, and build confidence over time.
LEARN BY DOING
Barbering is a hands-on profession. Students spend significant time practicing haircutting, clipper work, shear work, shaving, consultations, sanitation, setup, and client service.
Training is designed to move from guided instruction into greater independence as skills improve.
REAL CLINIC FLOOR EXPERIENCE
The clinic floor gives students the opportunity to work in a professional environment while completing their education.
Students learn how to greet clients, conduct consultations, manage their station, provide services, maintain sanitation standards, and develop professional communication.
SMALLER TRAINING ENVIRONMENT
Our training environment allows students to receive direct instructor feedback, ask questions, correct mistakes, and build confidence without feeling lost in a large classroom.
PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS
Students are expected to show up prepared, follow sanitation standards, respect clients and classmates, and treat their education like preparation for a career. A school smock is required during training, and students should maintain a clean, professional appearance appropriate for a working barber environment.
Students are also introduced to the professional and business side of barbering, including client experience, consultation, retention, personal branding, professionalism, and basic business concepts.

Barbering is more than a skill. It is a community.
At THE Band of Barbers Academy, students have opportunities to connect with other barbers, instructors, graduates, guest professionals, and members of the local community throughout their training.
Through clinic floor experience, special events, community service, guest education, and industry exposure, students are able to see different paths within the barber profession while building relationships that can continue beyond graduation.
Our goal is to create an environment where students learn from one another, support one another, and begin building their professional network before they ever leave school.
STUDENT SUCCESS
At THE Band of Barbers Academy, we have supported students at different stages of their barbering journey. Some have come to us for the final steps of licensure, including exam preparation and skill refinement, while others have completed their education and hands-on training with us as they prepared for licensure.
Our role is to meet students where they are, help strengthen their knowledge and practical skills, and prepare them to move forward with confidence.
